I have given her all sorts of credit, I let her have a
whole blank slate after she told us about Joffrey and I never even brought
up any of the old shit. I didn't even tell you for months that she used to
be a bitch. Don't tell me to give her a little credit just because I'm
telling just you that I'm surprised. I'm not saying it to HER.
That sounds distinctly like you're still thinking
it.
[She's not actually sure she believes that but she has firmly hit
Overload, too many different things all at once, and she just can't think
clearly about it now.]
[Hours later in the middle of the night Peter was there crawling into her bed. This way they didn’t have to continue the conversation but he was still there for her. That silent reassurance that it was going to be okay.]
[Even dead asleep, - she had already been exhausted before she told
him she was going to bed, and she'd still had who knows how long of fitful
tossing and turning after she had laid down before she actually fell asleep
- tonight, Arya rolled over and reached towards him quicker than she ever
had.]
[Peter hasn’t slept at all, not after all of that, but when she reached out for him and he wrapped his arms around her he felt his very spirit relax. There had been some sort of disharmony before and now there was less. They’d eventually make things right fully but right now this was worlds better. Now Peter could finally rest because he’d made sure she knew how he felt.]
[He's far from alone in that - she had fallen asleep, yes, but it
had hardly been what you could call restful. She had been curled up in a
very tense little ball, frowning in her sleep, but now she could burrow
into him, a little tension seeping out of her with every deep inhale, every
little squirm to try and get closer. When she woke up, she'd still feel
like hiding this way, with her head buried in his chest, but it would be so
much easier to face up against that urge since he'd come over, he hadn't
left her alone.]
[Peter was relieved that she was still curled up against him this morning. You'd think that it would make sleeping more difficult, having someone clinging to you like that but it didn't. Maybe at first when he wasn't used to it but now? Now it felt good. Which was why when he woke up he didn't top holding her but instead started stroking her back slowly.]
[That's a good way to wake up on any regular day, and after the way
she fell asleep... There just aren't really words for how reassuring it is.
It only took a minute after she started to wake up to realize that she
wasn't dreaming, and then a second to decide against moving beyond
tightening her grip on him.] You're here.
[So not literally always since it had taken him a bit to come over but the metaphorical always of he would come over. He couldn’t just leave things like that between them until morning. Sure they hadn’t resolved anything but establishing this sort of thing seemed really important to him.]
Arya I... Idontwanttoliveapartduringcollege.
[It all came out in a rush but he felt like he needed to just say it before they talked about anything else.]
... What? Honey, I have no idea what you just said.
[It distracted her, at least, from all the serious heavy things that
made Peter being here such a special thing. She was grateful for that, even
if it meant she had to actually look up at him instead of keeping her face
pressed to his chest. That was okay, cause it felt normal, and after all
the TOO MUCH of the night before... this went a long way towards
helping.]
I want to live with you. After high school. I don't want to wait until after college or anything. I don't think I could stand that.
[Sometimes it was hard enough to be apart from her now and even though college was just around the corner the idea of waiting even longer after that was just... no. He didn't think he could do it.]
[Well, that was not exactly what she expected to hear first thing
this morning. She can't well pretend she's not glad to hear it, that's
where she's already been, opinion wise. She was going to do her best to
be... fair. Was that the word?]
But... you said you wanted to wait. You wanted to do the dorm thing and
all, if you could save up enough for it.
That was in the past. I've also said in the past I want to be a firetruck when I grow up and that I'd never get laid so. Past me doesn't always know best.
[Sure some of those things were very different from what he was saying about living together but they also seemed equally ridiculous now that he was here holding her. After a night like last night he just couldn't be okay with the idea of being apart from her for so long.]
Okay, but... I really don't want to change your mind about this but we just
had a bad night and you shouldn't decide not to do something you wanted to
do just because we had a bad night.
Yeah, I promise. The thing is... if I miss out on anything it would be
missing out on more time with you by living at college. I don't want that.
So you were thinking the right thing.
no subject
well right now Sansa is siding with you
no subject
I don't get it.

Arya
maybe give her a little credit that she has grown as a person?
whatever story you need to tell me in person the story this time is that your sister is defending you

Fine, I'm the asshole. I'm going to bed.
no subject
No I’m thinking I should have just listened to you instead of trying to tell you what to do and I’m sorry for that
Okay, please text or call when you wake up
no subject
Oh. Okay.

Well if I change my mind between now and then I'll let you know.
[He didnt think that was going to change though because now that he thought about it it really felt... right.]
no subject
Do you promise? Because I don't want to be the reason you miss out on anything.
And if you promise, I was already thinking that before last night.
[That wouldn't feel so much like a confession, if not for last night.]
no subject
Yeah, I promise. The thing is... if I miss out on anything it would be missing out on more time with you by living at college. I don't want that. So you were thinking the right thing.
